KAKAW!

PUT ON YOUR COOL CLOTHES AND PRACTICE YOUR CHIN SCRATCHING.
La Jolla’s most secretive art gallery, Ed, will open it doors once again (F the recession) on Friday, October 23th. The exhibit “KAKAW!” (that’s bird speak
for “what’s up”) is the first solo show by local artist Dion Terry. The show will showcase Dion’s recent focus on the bird and its characteristics, juxtoposing the
wildlife against his “wild-style” grafitti style. If you ask us, Dion just loves birds and peyote. But don’t let the show’s flashy theme or the showy La Jolla zip code
intimidate you, there will be no generic oil paintings exhibited and you’ll probably have fun.

About the Gallery:
Ed Gallery is the creative outlet for Sixteenfifty Brand Strategy/Advertising/Design which is based here in La Jolla and Las Vegas. The gallery was created
for Sixteenfifty & Friends to do “whatever they want” with the place. The off-beat ambiance emulated in this La Jolla studio/gallery is hard to find on
the surrounding streets. Just head up the alley (next to Don Carlos Taco Shop (ryan you owe us a taco)) and look for the (r)ed carpet and velvet ropes right next
to the Asian restaurant’s dumpsters. If it smells like yellow curry, then you found it. Up the fire escape you will find La Jolla’s sweetest art gallery, Ed.
With it’s alley entrance and the front window art designed by the owners (then) 1 year old daughter “Ed” (who is the namesake to the gallery),
its definitely the new kid on the block and maybe soon to be off the block.
At least there will be fine wine, bird food and music.

About the Artist:
DION TERRY I hail from Fort Defiance, AZ which is located on the Navajo Nation. I have been creating art my entire life with
no technical training or professional schooling in the area of painting with acrylics. But with this series of paintings I
decided to start out with juxtaposing wildlife and “wild-style” graffiti. But eventually I turned my focus primarily
on the bird and it’s characteristics.
